Trimming Cilantro Properly
Cilantro is one of the most popular herbs to grow in a fruit and vegetable garden. However, many people do not know how to properly trim cilantro so that it doesn’t bother new growth.
So where should you make the cut on a cilantro plant? Start at the tip of the plant where the leaves are (the part you want to consume) and follow the stem down to where you see the new smaller growth coming in. Next, take the tips of your fingers (thumb and forefinger) and without pulling pinch add remove the leaf and the accompanying branch that you want to use. This keeps the plant in good shape so it can continue to produce more cilantro leaves for you.
First time cilantro grower here for personal use: I never imagined there is a technique in proper harvesting; initially cut some for bhan mi sandwiches straight from the top. I have been waiting for it to regrow but never saw that happened … Now I know why!
Thanks for the tip.
Glad this video helped you out Elizabeth! I hope you give it another try, and let us know how it goes!
